How Al Farraa Academy collects, uses and protects your personal data.

Last updated: 28 September 2026

1. Who we are

This website and our learning platform are operated by ALFARRAA ACADEMY LTD ("Al Farraa Academy", "we", "us"), a private company registered in England and Wales under company number 17439341, with its registered office at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.

We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy at any time by email at info@alfarraa.com or by WhatsApp or phone on +44 7575 362485.

2. What this policy covers

This policy applies to our main website alfarraa.com, our learning platform alfarraa.odoo.com (including registration, bookings, pricing, courses and the student area), our online lessons, and the ways we communicate with you, including email and WhatsApp.

3. The personal data we collect

Information you give us

  • Enquiries: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, and the content of your message.
  • Registration: full name, gender, nationality, date of birth, WhatsApp number, email address, and information about your learning, such as how much of the Qur'an you have memorised, how well you recall it, and your level of Tajweed.
  • Bookings: the date and time you choose, your time zone and your contact details.
  • Your student account: login details and your learning history with us, such as lessons attended, progress notes and certificates.
  • Payments: billing details and records of what you have paid. Card payments are handled by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email, WhatsApp, forms or chat.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit.
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see section 10).

Information from others

  • If a parent or guardian registers a child, we receive the child's details from that parent or guardian.

4. How we use your data and our lawful bases

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we must have a lawful basis for each use of your personal data:

  • To enrol you, schedule and deliver lessons, track progress and issue certificates — performance of a contract with you (or taking steps at your request before entering into one).
  • To answer your enquiries and recommend a suitable programme — taking steps at your request before a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
  • To send service messages (booking confirmations, lesson reminders, schedule changes) by email or WhatsApp — performance of a contract.
  • To take payments, keep accounts and meet tax obligations — legal obligation and performance of a contract.
  • To send news about programmes, events and offers — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
  • To keep our websites secure and improve them — our legitimate interests.
  • To use non-essential cookies — your consent.

Information about your religious study (for example, your level of Qur'an memorisation) is used only to place you at the right level and to support your learning. We do not use it for any other purpose.

5. Children

We welcome children and teenagers as students. For children under 13, registration must be completed by a parent or guardian, who gives consent on the child's behalf and receives our communications. We collect only the information needed to teach the child safely and effectively. Parents and guardians can exercise the rights in section 9 on their child's behalf.

6. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where needed, with:

  • Our teachers, who see the information they need to teach you and are bound by confidentiality.
  • Service providers acting on our behalf, including: website hosting for alfarraa.com (Hostinger); our learning, booking, CRM and invoicing platform (Odoo S.A., for alfarraa.odoo.com); email and messaging services, including WhatsApp (Meta) when you choose to contact us that way; video-conferencing services used to deliver online lessons; payment processors; and Google, for web fonts and, if you choose a language from our language menu, Google Translate.
  • Professional advisers (such as accountants and lawyers), and authorities where we are required to by law.

Our service providers may only use your data to provide their services to us and must keep it secure.

7. International transfers

We are an online academy with students, teachers and service providers in several countries, so your data may be processed outside the United Kingdom. When we transfer personal data outside the UK, we make sure it is protected, for example by relying on UK adequacy regulations, the International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. How long we keep your data

  • Enquiries that do not lead to enrolment: up to 24 months after our last contact.
  • Student and financial records: for as long as you study with us and for 6 years afterwards, to meet accounting and tax requirements and to deal with any legal claims.
  • Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent.

When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it securely.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased in certain circumstances;
  • restrict or object to certain uses of your data, including direct marketing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@alfarraa.com. We will respond within one month. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.

10. Cookies

We use essential cookies that our websites need to work, for example to keep you signed in, to remember your booking, and to protect our forms from abuse. If you choose a language from the language menu on alfarraa.com, a cookie remembers that choice so the site keeps showing your language. Where we use analytics or other non-essential cookies, we ask for your consent first. You can also manage or delete cookies in your browser settings.

11. How we protect your data

We use secure, encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls, and reputable service providers to protect your personal data. Only people who need your data to teach or support you can access it.

12. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make significant changes, we will let current students know.
